Frequently asked questions
What age can my child start?
We take children from 18 months. Toddlers join the toddler group, children from 3 years join preschool, and 5 year olds move into the kindergarten year.
Does my child need to be toilet trained?
No. Toilet independence is part of what the toddler programme teaches, and we work on it together with you.
What are the school timings?
The main work cycle runs through the morning, with day-care hours available before and after for families who need them. Exact timings are confirmed at admission.
How big are the classes?
Classes are deliberately small and mixed-age, with a trained directress and an assistant in every room.
What is a Montessori work cycle?
An uninterrupted block of time in which children choose their own activities and stay with them as long as they wish. It is where deep concentration is built, so we protect it carefully.
Do you follow a syllabus or give homework?
We follow the Montessori curriculum, which is sequenced but individual — each child moves at their own pace. We do not set written homework for this age group.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Teachers keep observation records for every child, and we hold parent–teacher meetings during the year. You can also request a consultation at any time.
What about food?
A snack is provided and prepared with the children as part of practical life. Please tell us about any allergy or dietary restriction in writing at admission.
How long does settling in take?
Most children settle within one to three weeks. We start with short sessions and lengthen them as your child grows comfortable. Some tears in the first days are normal and expected.
Is the school safe?
Entry is controlled, staff are background-checked and first-aid trained, the garden is fully fenced, and children are released only to the adults you have authorised in writing.
Do you offer transport?
Transport is available on selected routes and is billed separately from tuition. Ask the office whether your area is covered.
Can I visit before applying?
Yes, and we encourage it. Book a school tour on a weekday morning and see the classrooms while they are in use.
